The first generation iPod Shuffle was released in January of 2005 and the fourth generation was released in September of 2012. The first generation iPod Touch was released in September of 2007 and the most recent version, generation six, was released in July of 2015. The iPod Touch runs on the iOS operating system and there are various versions of iOS available for the different generations of the iPod Touch. The iOS is the same operating system that other Apple products, like the iPhone, iPad, and AppleTV use as well.

iPhone

Armor Technologies fixes your iPhone in Rockford ILThe iPhone is a smartphone that can be used to take video (iPhone 3GS and above only), capture pictures, play music and videos, browse the internet, check email, send text and picture messages, receive visual voicemails, download, and use applications, and play games. Currently, Apple has made seven different “generations” of the iPhone, with only three currently available. The original iPhone through the iPhone 5 have been discontinued while the iPhone SE, iPhone 6S and iPhone 7 are still available. The iPhone runs the iOS operating system which is also found in the iPod Touch, iPad, and AppleTV. The iPhone has built-in Wi-Fi and LTE or LTE Advanced data connectivity. The iPhone was originally exclusive to AT&T, but now Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile carry the iPhone as well.

iPad

Armor Technologies services the iPad in Hampshire ILThe iPad is a tablet computer that can be used to browse the internet, take pictures, video chat through Apple’s FaceTime, record videos, play music and videos, check email, download and use applications, play games, and more. Apple released the first iPad in April of 2010 and has since released five more generations of iPad for a total of six generations. There are Wi-Fi only options as well as Wi-Fi + cellular data options for all generations of the iPad, and the data is provided by either Verizon or AT&T for older models, and Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile on newer models. The iPad mini 2(32 GB), the iPad mini4, the iPad Air 2, and the iPad Pro (available in two sizes) are the only iPads currently sold by Apple. The iPad Pro has 32GB, 128GB, or 256GB depending on which you choose.

Repair services we offer for Apple iOS devices

Battery Replacement: iPod Classic, Nano, and Touch 1st-6th Gen: $50.00

Armor Technologies services iPod and iPod Touch batteries in Rochelle ILWhen we replace a battery we first need to disassemble the device and remove the faulty battery. After the bad battery is removed we will then install the replacement battery. We will also run a few tests after installing the new battery to verify that the battery is functioning properly.

LCD Screen Replacement:

Armor Technologies repairs cracked iPhone screens in Geneva ILLCD screens can experience a variety of problems. The screen could crack, have dead pixels, or stop responding to touch. If your iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad has a problem with the screen we can diagnose and fix the problem. The first thing we will do is check to see what part of the device's screen is having problems. All Apple iOS product touchscreens have two parts to them: the LCD screen and a digitizer. The digitizer is located underneath the LCD; it is what will translate your touch to something the device can understand. All of Apple's touch screen devices have the LCD screen and digitizer fused together, so whenever we replace a screen we replace both the LCD screen and digitizer.

Firmware Flash: $60.00

Just like computers, iOS devices (like iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches) can sometimes experience glitches in their firmware (operating system). Depending on how the device is used some people might experience this problem more than others. iOS devices can have firmware issues that might have been caused by updates, installing bad applications, or physical damage to the device. For a firmware flash, we need to connect the device to some sort of medium which, in most cases, is a computer. Once the device is connected we will back up any data (if it is accessible), wipe the software that's on the device, then re-install the operating system so the device is running a clean and untouched firmware.

These are the most common problems or issues related to Apple iOS devices that we receive. If you experience a problem that you don't see listed here, please call us or stop in and we will diagnose it for you!
